Missing Work Update

Hi everyone!!

Just an update - unfortunately, maintaining three different sets of student grades/missing work (the Gradebook, the spreadsheets that I put together, and the "Academic Status" doc that all teachers use) was too challenging and time-consuming.  Now that you are able to log in to a Gradebook portal, I am no longer maintaining the student spreadsheets for this class.  However, I will try to be very up-to-date with the "Academic Status" doc updates.  So, ask your advisor or tutor for the list of missing work from that.  I am also happy to tell you what's missing during lunch or before or after school.  (I often can't during class, because I am busy teaching and my computer is in use.)

Citing Sources in Science

Welcome back everyone!!  It's time to make an awesome bibliography for your biome project.  For science, "APA" is the accepted format for bibliography entries.  Here is the website you need:

http://citationmachine.net/index2.php?reqstyleid=2&newstyle=2&stylebox=2

When you get there, it should already be set to "APA" - just check.

Then look on the left side and choose the source that matches what you are trying to cite.  Notice that "web page," "web media," and various other online articles are all DIFFERENT choices.  If you aren't sure which to use, ask me.

Fill in as much info as you can, checking back to the web url for information like author and date.

Then make sure your final citation is numbered the same as your original web url, and add it to your google doc for sources!!

Welcome to Our Class!

Hello and welcome to Social Justice Biology at Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School!  I am so excited to be here and teaching all of you.

This website will include links to homework and in-class warmups, updated DAILY (you can count on it!) and sometimes up to a week in advance.  It will also have links to readings, activities and good research websites.  Just click to the page on the right that matches what we're learning.

As always, feel free to contact me with any comments or questions.  My email address is kjewett (at) paulofreirecharterschool.org.
